Privacy Policy

1. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Temecula Wine Passport mobile app (the "App") available on the Apple App Store — an independent project created, owned, and operated solely by Dillon Haffner.

2. Information Collected

Information you provide directly

The App's optional "Moving?" tab lets you reach out to Dillon if you're thinking about buying or selling — it's entirely separate from using the rest of the App. Tapping a button there opens your phone's own Messages app with a note already typed in, addressed to a phone number Dillon uses for the App; the App itself doesn't collect, store, or transmit anything from that screen. Nothing sends until you personally review and tap send inside Messages, and whatever you choose to write or share happens directly between you and Dillon's phone, outside the App.

Nothing in this tab is required to use any other part of the App, and the App never asks for financial account numbers, a Social Security number, or similar sensitive identifiers.

Information collected automatically by the App

• Camera — used to run the App's AR stamp-hunt feature at wineries you've physically visited. Camera video is processed on your device in real time (via Apple's ARKit) to place and detect the virtual stamp; it is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere.
• Precise location — used only while you're using the App, to confirm you're actually at a winery (within roughly 150 meters) before unlocking that winery's stamp hunt, to show nearby wineries on the map, and to show a "happening now" card when a winery you're at has an event going on. Location is processed on your device; the App never sends it to Dillon Haffner or anyone else, and it is never sold or shared.
• Collected stamps and favorites — stored on your device and synced through Apple's CloudKit, tied to your own private iCloud account, so your progress carries over to your other devices and survives a lost or replaced phone. This uses Apple's own infrastructure, lives in your private iCloud data — not a server Dillon Haffner operates or can access — and is never shared with anyone.
• Announcements and settings — the announcements your device has received, which ones you've read, and your notification preferences are stored only on your device. Announcements are removed from the App automatically after about ten days.
• Notification identifiers — only if you allow notifications (and, if Live Activities are turned on for the App). To deliver announcements and to show live updates for major winery events (Live Activities), the App sends your device's Apple push-notification token, and a random identifier the App generates for your install that isn't connected to your name, email, phone number, or location, to a server operated by Dillon Haffner. The App has no accounts, so these identifiers are not linked to who you are.
• Standard connection information — when the App loads community content such as the winery events calendar and updates, it makes ordinary internet requests. Like any internet request, these reveal your IP address and basic technical details such as your device type to the server answering them, and may appear in routine server logs. This information isn't linked to you and isn't used for tracking or advertising.

The App does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and does not use cookies (native apps don't have browser cookies).

3. How Your Information Is Used

Information collected by the App is used to:

• Run the App's core features — showing nearby wineries and events, confirming you're at a winery before unlocking its AR stamp hunt, and keeping your collected stamps in sync across your own devices
• Deliver the announcements and Live Activities you've allowed on your device
• Nothing else — notification identifiers are used only to send you notifications, never to build a profile of you, and never for advertising or tracking

Your information isn't used to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you, and it isn't used for advertising.

4. How your information is shared

Your information isn't sold, and isn't shared for advertising or tracking. It's shared only in these limited circumstances:

• Apple — collected stamps and favorites sync through Apple's CloudKit, stored in your own private iCloud account under Apple's own privacy practices; Dillon Haffner has no access to this data. Notifications and Live Activities are delivered through Apple's own push-notification service, which receives the notification and your device's push token under Apple's privacy policy.
• Hosting providers — a cloud provider (Google Cloud / Firebase) runs the notification service on Dillon Haffner's behalf and stores the notification identifiers described above, solely to provide that service. The community content (events and updates) is served from Dillon Haffner's website host, which receives the standard request information described above.
• Messages / Phone — if you use the optional Moving? tab, the text or call you choose to make goes through your own phone's Messages or Phone app, directly between you and Dillon Haffner.
• Legal requirements — if required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or similar legal process.

No one outside of what's listed above has access to this data — it isn't shared with any other business Dillon Haffner is involved with.

5. Data retention

Collected stamps and favorites are kept for as long as you use the App, in your own private iCloud account. Deleting the App removes what's stored on that device; because that data syncs through your own iCloud account rather than a server Dillon Haffner controls, it can also be managed or cleared directly from your device's Settings app. Announcements stored on your device are removed automatically after about ten days. Notification identifiers are kept on the notification server only as long as they remain valid and are removed when Apple reports your device's token as no longer in use; you can ask for earlier deletion using the contact details below.

6. Your choices & rights

California residents

If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, gives you the right to:

• Know what personal information has been collected about you
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Correct inaccurate personal information
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — the App does not sell personal information
• Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

Everyone

Camera, Location, and Notification access can each be revoked at any time from your iPhone's Settings app for the App, without losing the ability to browse wineries, view events, or see collected stamps you already found. You can also turn off update, event, and nearby alerts from the settings menu on the App's Updates tab. Deleting the App removes its data from that device.

7. Children's privacy

The App is about visiting wineries and is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 13.

8. Security

Reasonable steps are taken to protect App data, including relying on Apple's own CloudKit and on-device storage for anything the App keeps or syncs, keeping location and camera processing on your device, and limiting the notification server to the two identifiers described above. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and absolute security can't be guaranteed.

9. Third-party services used in the App

The App uses Apple MapKit to display wineries on the map and to show a 3D aerial view of each winery, Apple CloudKit to sync your collected stamps and favorites, and Apple's push-notification service to deliver announcements and Live Activities. All run under Apple's own privacy policy. The notification service itself is hosted on Google Cloud (Firebase), under Google's privacy policy. When you tap a link to a winery's page or social post, it opens in an in-app web view and is governed by that site's own policy. Reviewing these policies directly is recommended.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time as the App changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
