Common questions

Why does the app ask for my location?

Temecula Wine Passport uses your location to confirm you've actually arrived at a winery before it unlocks that winery's stamp hunt, and to show nearby wineries on the map. Location is only used while the app is open.

I'm at a winery but the stamp hunt won't unlock

Make sure Location access is set to "While Using the App" in your iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Temecula Wine Passport. GPS accuracy can vary — if you're right at the edge of a property, try moving a little closer to the tasting room.

Why does the app need my camera?

The stamp hunt is an augmented-reality scavenger hunt — once you're at a winery, the camera is used to find and "collect" a few hidden collectibles scattered nearby. The camera is never used outside of an active hunt.

I opened the camera but don't see anything to collect

The pieces are deliberately not placed right in front of you — turn around and pan the camera slowly in different directions. They're always somewhere nearby, just not always in the direction you started facing.

Will my stamps and favorites sync across my devices?

Yes — collected stamps and favorited wineries sync privately through your own iCloud account, so they'll carry over to another device signed into the same Apple ID.

How do I remove my data from the app?

Deleting the app removes your local data. Since stamps and favorites sync through your private iCloud account, you can also remove them by turning off iCloud sync for the app in your device's iCloud settings.

Still need help?

Send an email describing the issue — what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead — and it'll get looked at directly.
